MAI SWEET BASIL EPK
Mai Sweet Basil is the musical collaboration of Tampa Bay artists Kay Sahagian and Nicole Hoffer. Sahagian is a musician, producer, and performer integral to the Bay Area scene; notably as a founding member of the prolific indie group Speak Easy. Hoffer is a professional singer, graduate of USF’s Music Performance program, and a founding member of the jazz group In The Pocket.
Together the duo creates music that’s a blend of pop, jazz, R&B, and even folk that’s characterized by colorful harmonies, poetic lyrics, and danceable energy. Their music is both modern and timeless, with a feel that’s accessible to crowds of all ages. The group performs in the area as both an acoustic duo and full-band lineup. Mai Sweet Basil has played at Tampa’s Rock The Park, Bayboro Brewing, and Far Forest and has been featured for their original music in Tampa’s Creative Loafing publication.
Sahagian and Hoffer have released one self-produced album titled “Why Be A Wallflower?” in 2023 and have plans for a follow up in late 2025.
